This 42-foot Caribbean Bertram underwent a repower for customer confidence and to get a few more knots out of her. Both engines were removed and completely rebuilt with a horsepower upgrade. A total cosmetic upgrade was also carried out with rocker covers re-chrome plated and a total 2-pack paint job. Additionally, a new 13.5 Onan genset was installed to allow for upgraded refrigeration and air conditioning. The shaft seal system and all fuel lines were replaced, making this repower a complete overhaul of the engine room. The vessel was sea-trialed with the existing propellers, and all data was recorded before it was lifted again for the props to be finely tuned to suit the new engine HP and weight modifications. A final sea trial was conducted after the engine repower, and the props were adjusted and tuned. We were all blown away with the performance of 27.3 knots top speed and a new increased cruise speed of 21 knots at 1950 RPM (up from 17 knots cruise and 23 knots max). The customer was extremely happy and ready for his planned long-range adventures.
