The Sheriff is a 40-foot classic wooden game boat, built by legendary Innisfail boat builder Frank Woodnutt. Launched in 1972 as Kanahoee, this beautiful boat has had more names than a serial bride - Guilder III, Betelguise, Reef Life, and The Sheriff. The current owners, Cairns-based Corey and Rani Hard, have kept the name The Sheriff and operate Hardcore Charters, with Corey running the boat and Rani arranging the bookings.
Back in early 2020, Corey purchased the boat in Sydney, and before heading north to Cairns, had Onboard carry out a refresh on the Cummins 6 CTA 450 engines. A complete saltwater system service, including new aftercoolers, was carried out. Both engines had cylinder head upgrades. All parts were painted in 2-pack, and the engines were touched up in place.
Extensive sea trials were carried out before topping her off with fuel and sending her on her way to her new home in Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef.
